Through a rocky childhood and an equally rocky adulthood, the Sisters remained devoted to Sal, even saving him from taking his own life. It was the advice of his lifetime friend, Sister Mary Paul OSF, that made all the difference. The powerful story of Sal’s conversion is being developed into a full-length feature film. (www.houseoflionmovie.com) It is a no-fluff true story about a young man’s journey through the trials of life to find the truth, and how he did it with the help of the tough and practical Franciscan, Sister Mary Paul. Daniel Bielinski, founder of the film company Canticle Productions (www.canticle-productions.com) is producing the film. His company is dedicated to honoring the history, culture, and people of the Great Plains through powerful, inspirational storytelling. “In exploring the remarkable conversion story of Sal Di Leo, our film will shine a light on a truly extraordinary woman,” says Bielinski. “Sister Mary Paul broke a lot of stereotypes in the 1960’s, but she remained wholly dedicated to her faith and to the orphaned children, like Sal, that were entrusted to her keeping.” The media has not been kind to Catholic clergy in recent years. But it’s important to know that there are beautiful souls like Sister Mary Paul who can bring a little bit of light into a dark world.
